Obituary of Edith Hannah Langberg 1939
Obituary.
Mrs. Edith Hannah Langberg.
The late Mrs. Edith Hannah Langberg,
who passed away at the Mount
Gambier General Hospital on February
21, was born at Lucindale in
1878. In that district her parents, the
late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gould, pursued
farming operations, seven years
later leaving for Hatherleigh, near
Millicent, where they again engaged
in work on the land. In 1892 they
moved back to Conmurra, where, six
years later, the father died, leaving
Mrs. Gould and a family of five - two
daughters and three sons - to carry
on the property. The elder daughter
was then 18 years of age, and the
eldest son 15 years. The late Mrs. Langberg
was often to be found toiling
in the fields with her brothers,
and the family made good. At the
age of 35, deceased married
Mr. G. W. Langberg
and the couple settled near
Lucindale. Mrs. Langberg was a
great lover of flower gardens, and was
particularly successful in this direction.
She was a strong supporter of
the Methodist Church during her
younger life. On account of the deceased's
health, they were obliged to
relinquish farming and four years ago
they retired in Mount Gambier, where
the late Mrs. Langberg suffered continued
ill-health. The only son of the
marriage died in infancy. Deceased
had a wide circle of friends in the
Lucindale, Naracoorte, and Mount
Gambier districts, where she was
loved and respected by all.Her husband
(Cr. G. W. Langberg,)
one sister (Mrs. P. Burk, of Lucindale) and three brothers
(Percival,
Edmund and William Gould, of Conmurra
and Woodleigh stations), survive.
